Kim Ragsdale

Kim Ragsdale focuses on faces – character faces with wrinkles, broken teeth, no teeth and older faces. Her first drawings were of dogs, horses and cows because they are so important in western ranch life. They weren’t child-like drawings, they were so accurate anatomically as to be mistaken for photographs.

Her artistic ability was recognized by a high school art teacher, a portrait artist. Kim remembers being taught to draw what she saw, not what she knows is there.
Kim now enjoys doing authentic commissioned projects for her clients, utilizing her drawing techniques using high-quality graphite in 19 differentiated degrees from especially soft to extra hard. She lives in Southern Oregon with her husband and when she is not drawing, Kim spends time hiking, cooking and enjoying her 14 grandchildren and two great grandsons.
